The KUA Boys’ Ice Hockey Team is a proud member of the highly competitive Lakes Region League and holds a strong legacy within New England prep school hockey. The team has achieved numerous accomplishments, including multiple Lakes Region Championships, New England Prep Tournament appearances, and NEPSAC Elite Division Championships in 1982, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2024.
While competing for championships and postseason success is always an exciting achievement, the program’s primary focus is on the development of student-athletes aspiring to play at the collegiate level. KUA hockey alumni have gone on to compete at a variety of Division I and III schools, such as Boston College, Cornell University, Northeastern University, University of Vermont, Trinity College, Bowdoin College, and Middlebury College, as well as pursuing careers in professional hockey.
The foundation of the program’s success starts with its experienced coaching staff. KUA’s Head Coach is Tim Whitehead, a seasoned leader with a rich history in collegiate and prep hockey. Prior to joining KUA, Coach Whitehead spent 25 years coaching at the NCAA level, including head coaching stints at the University of Maine and UMass Lowell. His teams made numerous NCAA Tournament appearances, including 4 Frozen Fours and 2National Championship games.

Trailing 2-1 midway through the first period, the Wildcats proceeded to score eight unanswered goals to earn a 9-2 win at Proctor on Wednesday. CJ Watroba (2), Caden Barnard, Max Kimelman, Corwith Simmers, Xander Boutilier, Zach Phillips, Nick Evans, and Matthew Ross all scored for the Wildcats, while goalie Luca Campo earned the win by kicking out 29 of 31 shots.
In a rematch of the top two seeds in the Lakes Region, Holderness avenged a previous loss by trouncing the Wildcats 7-2 on Saturday at Holderness. The teams battled to a scoreless first period, in large part because of 19 saves from KUA goalie Blake McMeniman. Holderness struck in the second to take the lead, but two quick KUA goals, one from Mikael Tissier and another from Jackson Davies, gave the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. The lead was short-lived, however, as Holderness scored two quick goals of its own to take a 3-2 lead into the second intermission. In the third, the home team kept pressing, striking for four goals and putting the game out of reach. Despite the score, McMeniman was strong in net for KUA, finishing with 42 saves.
Despite firing 37 shots on net, the Wildcats could not sneak a puck past a strong Andover goalie and fell 4-0 on the road on Wednesday. KUA pressed and had several chances to tie the game throughout, but Andover got timely goals, including an empty-netter in the final minute to seal the win.
