Wildcats shut out for only the second time this season

The Wildcats played in a rematch game at Cardigan Mountain - a team that had thumped them early in the season. The Cougars prevailed again, but this time it was an even and exciting contest. Cardigan scored late in a back-and-forth first period on a screened shot that caromed off a KUA defenseman’s pad and over goalie Jack Isabelle’s shoulder. Both teams battled through a scoreless second period, and Cardigan scored an impressive powerplay goal late in the third to go up by two. There were a variety of bright moments for the Wildcats – Anthony Solt banged a puck off the goalpost, Jack Isabelle stopped a breakaway and then diverted an immediate rebound shot, and the Wildcats put unrelenting pressure on the Cougar goal in the final minute – but the game ended with the score 2 – 0.
