The Wildcats got out to a 3-0 lead in the second period and held on to defeat Westminster 4-1 in the first game of the Flood-Marr Tournament at Noble and Greenough School on Friday. Zach Phillips tipped home a shot from Bleyton Hopps-Thompson just 1:24 into the opening period, and KUA controlled play for the remainder of the frame but couldn't tally another goal. In the second, Corwith Simmers and Josh Phillips each scored for KUA, but Westminster cut into the lead with a minute left in the period. However, the third period was all KUA, as Westminster took five penalties, leaving the Wildcats with plenty of offensive zone time. Rowen Sang, on an assist from Jackson Davies, stretched the lead to 4-1 with five minutes to play to round out the scoring. Goalie Blake McMeniman stopped 15 shots to earn the win.
