Wildcats’ Second Half is Not Enough Against the Hornets: 10-12

The Wildcats came out today to play the Proctor Hornets for the second time this season.  The Hornets scored first just 24 seconds in the game but junior Morgan Walsh (Duxbury, MA) answered right back 18 seconds later.  The score went back and forth for the first few goals as both teams gained possession.  The Hornets pulled ahead 6 to 3 at the end of half as they capitalized on ground balls and doubling in the midfield.
The Wildcats came out stronger in the second half, something the team is becoming known for.  Junior Ellie Harrigan (Park City, UT) opened up the scoring the second half.  The Hornets answered right back and the teams ping ponged possession for the next 15 minutes.  Losing 8-12 with nine minutes left, the Wildcats focused on playing together as they re-defended down the field, doubled the ball on defense and took care of the ball on offense.  Junior Storm Sideleau (Contoocook, NH) scored narrowing the deficit to three goals with less than three minutes left to play and Walsh scored 17 seconds later to bring it to a two-goal difference.  The girls played hard to last second of the game but could not manage to tie it up.  Walsh scored 4 goals, Sideleau scored 3, and senior Kayla Jacobs (Norwich, VT), senior captain Hailey Hart (Newton, MA) and Harrigan each picked up one goal for the Wildcats.  Goalies Christine Bouchat-Bonin and Amelie Poirier picked up 4 saves in net.
The Wildcats play on the road at Cushing this Saturday at 4:00.
