Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse beat the Bulls, 12-7

The KUA boys varsity lacrosse team defeated Holderness 12-7. Holderness scored the first two goals before the Wildcats found the back of the net. By the end of the first half, KUA had built an 8-5 lead. Seven Wildcats scored to pace the KUA offense. Gavin Black recorded three goals, while Kenny Speak, Sam Erb, and Eric Megnia each netted two apiece. Will Harrigan, Jack McCarthy, and Mike Lombardi scored the other goals. Speak assisted on three goals and Lombardi assisted on two. The big difference in the game was the Wildcat’s physical hustle and grit.  Cam Beecy dominated the face-offs winning 65% of the draws, while his wingmen Owen Manley and Z Ikeda scooped up key ground balls. KUA rotated four players at D-Pole, each of whom overpowered their marks. Jack McCarthy’s physical presence was felt at both ends of the field. Down a man, McCarthy picked off a pass, ran over two Bull riders, sprinted another forty yards before rocketing a shot low and away into the back of the net.  Defensive middies Andrew Robertello, Dylan van Leuwen-Hall, Alex Regnery, and Thomas Samuelson gave up little ground at the restraining line and cleared successfully on 90% of their possessions.  Nick Parker recorded 8 saves in goal for KUA. KUA (5-4) plays at home on Wednesday against Gould Academy at 5pm.
