KUA battles Brewster to close 10-7 loss

er
KUA hosted league leading Brewster Academy. Brewster scored three quick goals in the first quarter before KUA found their scoring touch.  At the half, Brewster’s lead had been cut to 4-3. KUA tied the score 4-4 early in the third quarter and then fought back again in the 4th quarter to even the score again at 7-7 with eight minutes still remaining in the game. Brewster scored the final three goals to win 10-7.

The KUA defense became increasingly sure footed as the game progressed. Jack McCarthy shut down Brewster’s most dangerous scoring threat while Greg Surgenor and Vasili Katsarakes managed to keep their marks from getting clear top-side shots. Goalie Nick Parker recorded 12 saves in his best game of the year. Long pole Owen Manley, along with middie defensive players Cam Beecy, Dylan van Leuwen-Hall,and Andrew Robertello, took away the middle and doubled effectively in front of the cage. Beecy won 51% of the face-offs against one of the top face-off specialist in the league. On offense, KUA's Eric Megnia had 1 goal and 3 assists while Kenny Speak scored two and assisted on one.  Will Harrigan, Mike Lombardi, Gavin black, Sam Erb, and Andrew Robertello scored the other Wildcat goals. Lomabardi also recorded one assist.

KUA (8-6 overall and 4-3 in the LRL) ends the regular season in third place behind New Hampton and Brewster. The Wildcats travel to New Hampton on Wednesday to play in the Lakes Region League semifinals.
