Wildcats beat the Pelicans

The Kimball Union boys’ varsity hockey team traveled to St. Paul’s School on Friday night to face the Knights. From the initial drop of the puck, the game was hard fought and physical. St. Paul’s drew first blood by netting one early on in the game. Kimball Union responded promptly, however, with a goal from sophomore Chris Konin, his third of the year. Chris’ goal was assisted by both Nik Armstrong and Jordan Harris. The game continued at one to one with countless opportunities presenting themselves to both teams. Once again, St. Paul’s was able to go up by one with a goal in the second. With their second goal, the momentum had begun to shift in St. Paul’s favor. This was not going to fly for the Wildcats. After only a couple of shifts, KUA was able to battle back to score with a quick shot from Nic Hamre that was a result of Mike Lombardi’s heads up drop pass in the high slot. The third and final goal was netted by the hard working trifecta of Roope Hirvonen, George Sennott, and Pat Shea, with the goal by Shea. Overall, the competition was strong and it proved to challenge the Wildcats of KUA to continue to improve as both individuals and as a team.
