Awards 2009-10 Presented on May 28

The following awards were presented at Kimball Union’s annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 28, 2010.
The Colby College Book Prize: Felix Ackerman '11
Given by Colby College Alumni Council and awarded to a junior for outstanding academic achievement and significant contributions to the life of Academy. The Colby College Book Prize is given to a hard working student whose curiosity and determination knows no boundary.
The following awards were presented at Kimball Union’s annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 28, 2010.
 
The Colby College Book Prize: Felix Ackerman '11
Given by Colby College Alumni Council and awarded to a junior for outstanding academic achievement and significant contributions to the life of Academy. The Colby College Book Prize is given to a hard working student whose curiosity and determination knows no boundary.

The Dartmouth College Book Prize: Nicolle Moore ’11

Given by the Dartmouth College Alumni Association to a junior according to the following general criteria: a strong candidate for entrance to a college of academic excellence, a person of strong moral character who has made a positive contribution to the community life who has excelled in at least one non-academic area.

 

The Harvard Book Prize: Isaac Dayno ’11

The Harvard Book Prize is awarded annually in memory of Dr. Lyman G. Richards, Harvard College, Class of 1919, a lifelong and steadfast supporter of Kimball Union, is sponsored through the Harvard Club of Boston by the generosity of Dr. Richard’s son, Mr. Bob Richards, Kimball Union class of 1945 and Harvard College, Class of 1949 whose endowment supports the annual presentation of the Harvard Prize Book. The Harvard Prize Book is a compilation of essays by distinguished Harvard Alumni in her traditional crimson binding. The Harvard Prize Book is presented, by vote of the faculty, to one member of the Junior Class whose personal citizenship and accomplishment, best displays the admirable qualities of scholastic achievement, athletic or artistic endeavor and humanitarian leadership.

 

The Rensselaer Medal: Damien Affleck

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, one of the world’s finest technological universities, is proud to recognize the achievements of the strongest science and mathematics student in the junior class. A minimum $25,000 scholarship is awarded to this student should the recipient pursue studies in architecture, engineering, management, science, or the humanities at Rensselaer.

 

Boston College Book Prize: Damien Affleck

Given by the Boston College Alumni Association and awarded by the faculty to a student who ranks in the top of the junior class in a college preparatory program and best exemplifies the qualities of scholarship, leadership, and achievement.

 

The Wellesley College Book Prize: Jane Oh

Given by Wellesley College Alumnae Association to an outstanding junior girl who by her academic excellence, leadership, and good citizenship has distinguished herself in her school and community.


The Middlebury College Book Prize: Josh Huett ’12

Given by Middlebury College Alumni Association and awarded by the faculty to a sophomore boy or girl who has shown remarkable commitment and achievement in one or more areas of the liberal arts, including: language and literature, history and the sciences and has contributed to the life of the school beyond the classroom.


The Mt. Holyoke College Book Prize: Christy Maerlender ’12

Given by Mt. Holyoke College Alumnae (ee) and awarded by the faculty to a young woman in the sophomore class in recognition of her academic excellence, her qualities of leadership, and her significant contribution to the community.
