Student Wellness Group Offers Morning Meditation

Regular meditation practice can help reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance emotional regulation, making it easier to manage academic pressures and social challenges. KUA's student wellness group now offers a 10-minute morning meditation to all community members.
Meditation can foster a sense of calm, self-awareness, and the distancing from one’s thoughts, contributing to better decision-making and overall well-being. Neuroimaging studies have shown that the prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, and anterior cingulate brain regions of meditators are different than in non-meditators, consistent with the demonstrated effects the of the practice. And good news: Positive outcomes are possible with only eight to ten minutes of practice per day. By modeling mindfulness, parents can also encourage their children to develop healthy coping strategies.

If you are on The Hilltop from 8:10-8:20 a.m. Monday through Thursday, please join morning meditation in Miller Bicentennial Hall, Room 206.

Through KUA design, we utilize research-informed teaching and learning strategies so that we can best deliver an experience that will support students in their educational, social, and emotional lives. Each month we’ll share a research-informed strategy you can use in the areas of relationships, learning, individuality, and wellbeing.
