Students Recognized for Artistic Achievement

The Scholastic Art Awards of New Hampshire once again recognized Kimball Union Academy students for their creativity and artistic achievement.
The Scholastic Art Awards of New Hampshire (SAANH) is a regional visual arts affiliate of the prestigious national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. There are 17 individual categories that students may enter work in, ranging from drawing to painting and sculpture to mixed media.

In 2025, 20 KUA students received awards and honorable mention. Those receiving Gold Key Awards – including six students from KUA – are automatically considered for National Awards from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens.

“I’m excited to offer my students this opportunity to be recognized,” says ceramics teacher Ursula Fries-Herfort, whose students in grades nine through 11 took home awards. “This year marked the first time that students in my ceramics’ classes entered work in the scholastic exhibit and I was so pleased. Noteworthy as well is that three of the gold key pieces were created by students in the introductory class.”

National medalists will be announced in March.
