The Kimball Union community elected Marek ’26 and Mia ’26 as next year's All-School Presidents as students identify opportunities for leadership for the coming year.
Students take an active role in shaping the community and find leadership opportunities embedded throughout their experience. Each year two all-school presidents are elected by students and faculty to oversee and represent the student body. Their primary responsibilities are to facilitate All School Meeting twice a week and chair the Student Senate.
Marek comes to KUA from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He has been active in a variety of sports and recreational activities during his time on The Hilltop. He has built his leadership skills over the past year as Co-President of the Junior Class and a Proctor in Chellis Hall. He describes KUA as “one big diverse family,” and encourages everyone to make the most of their time here. “I want school to be about you and your experience here,” he told students. “Everyone deserves to be happy here.”
The third in her family to attend KUA, Mia says the Academy has been an integral part of her experience since childhood. Serving as Co-President of the junior class with Marek, Mia is also an avid dancer and participates in the Global Scholar Program. “Showing up for one another is how we continue to be the community we are,” she said. “I’ve seen the past and hold deep hopes for the future, of not just our school, but for each one of you.”
“Applying for a leadership position in a public forum takes tremendous courage, and we are grateful to all the candidates for stepping forward and embracing the challenge with authenticity and heart,” said Alexis Liston ’03, dean of community life and belonging.
