Wildcats Triumph over Huskies in 2-0 Shutout

Hastings
Girls JV Soccer wins season opener vs. New Hampton
KUA GJVS traveled to New Hampton on a sunny Saturday for their first match of the season. The Wildcats came out quickly, with co-captain Caroline Sheehan and forward Tatum Rivers providing early pressure on the Husky defense. Lily Hines and Misora Hasharimoto made attacking runs up the wings. Towards the second half, Caroline Spector-Townsend achieved a break-through and threaded the ball into the net, giving KUA the lead. KUA defense was fierce with Avery Holland breaking up offensive plays of the Huskies at the last instant. She was supported by the starting defensive line of Maddy Bridge, Libby Kotei-Fearon, and Ally Woo-Sam. Eva Joslin and Skye McIntyre subbed into the game and made outstanding contributions on defense and offense. Eva Muneta and Lia Hegarty made strong contributions in the midfield. In the second half, Julia Chedel found the back of the net for her first goal of the season, putting the Wildcats ahead 2-0. Through excellent defense of Taryn Boyer and Fiona Spencer, the Huskies could not break through and KUA took home the win. MVP of the match goes to Indigo Kopp, who was a wall in net and made critical saves throughout the game.
