Wildcats Win on Senior Night

The Wildcats celebrated senior night with 3-1 win over New Hampton on Saturday in Meriden. Josh Phillips opened the scoring late in the first for KUA, with assists going to senior Iain Olsen and Thomas Ojard. New Hampton answer in the second to tie the game. With the game tied 1-1 in the third period, senior CJ Watroba scored the game-winner with a wrist shot under the bar with 11 minutes to play. Olsen and fellow senior Lucas Siomos assisted on the play. Minutes later, Rowen Sang tipped home a shot from senior Nick Evans to give the Wildcats a two-goal lead. Anthony Leech picked up an assist on the goal. New Hampton pressed late with two powerplays, but senior defensemen Bleyton Hopps-Thompson and Caden Barnard came up with some key shot blocks, and senior goalie Blake McMeniman stood tall, stopping 24 shots in all.
