The Wildcats faced off against a disciplined team from Hillside School and only barely managed to avoid a fourth consecutive overtime game. The visitors scored first, but Nike Fife scored early in the second period, with an assist from Jacob Hyjek, to tie things up. In the closing seconds before the mid-game ice make, Isaac Bliss fired a shot high on the Hillside goalie’s glove side. He made the initial save but dropped the puck, and Gunnar Wood jammed it in to put the Wildcats ahead for the first time. Revy Mack scored late in the period, with assists from Liam McKewan and Gunnar Wood, to put KUA up by two. Hillside scored mid-way through the third and pushed hard in the closing minutes, but the Wildcats defense held and goalie Mica McGinley-Smith came up with several dramatic saves to preserve the win. KUA will play three games in four days this week, and this strong showing against a quality opponent was a very positive start to that run.
