Jacob Hyjek scores with an assist from Patrick

Isaac Bliss scored a powerplay goal mid-way through the first period to tie the score at one, but the visitors from Quebec pulled away after that. The Wildcats generated some momentum in the final period, and Jacob Hyjek scored an impressive goal, with assists from his brother Patrick and from Andrew Hadlock. Sean Donoghue scored with an assist from Anthony Solt, but the final tally was 7 – 3. Tyler Wenning played in net for the Wildcats, and the score suggests that he had a bad day. Nothing could be further from the truth as he stood up strong facing a barrage of shots. He made one spectacular save in the first period where he made two successive saves and was sprawling on the ice. A Stanstead forward slid the puck toward the post, and Tyler’s leg extended from nowhere to knock the puck into the corner. He made a glove save in the third period that looked like an anteater’s tongue flying out to snag a bug. At any rate, the Wildcats will regroup next week as they face a rematch with New Hampton on Wednesday.
