Tough Opening Loss

The KUA JV2 Boys squad got off to a strong start right out of the gate!  The team began the game with intense play, challenging the New Hampton defense with good control of the center of the field by Daniel Pimentel ’23 and Angus Spence ‘25.  In the middle of the first half, Matthew Fussteig ’25, made a run up the right side, had a couple touches, and pushed the ball past the opposing keeper for the first goal of the season.  As the half progressed, the KUA defenders held up to the pressure, but New Hampton made a strong push late in the first half.  To prevent a sure goal, defender Eric Chung ‘24 used his hands to stop the ball right at the goal line in the final minute of the half.

We thought we were saved from the penalty shot when thunder caused a clearing of the field, but after a 30-minute delay, New Hampton was able to even the score from the penalty spot to start the 2nd half of play.  The second half was back and forth, with each team having opportunities to score.  Unfortunately, New Hampton was able to put two more goals in even though the KUA team had a slight advantage in ball control and shots.  All in all, it was a strong start to the season.
