Wildcats Hold On for Win Over Rivers

Josh Phillips and Corwith Simmers scored, and goalie Blake McMeniman kicked out 34 of 35 shots as KUA beat a talented Rivers team 2-1 at the Exeter Invitational Tournament on Saturday. Phillips opened the scoring just two minutes into the game, with assists going to Zach Phillips and Alexis Gagne. The game stayed that way until early in the second when Rivers tied the game, but just three minutes later Simmers connected from the slot to give KUA the 2-1 lead. Xander Boutillier picked up an assist on the play. Rivers pressed hard for an equalizer, but McMeniman and the KUA defense stood tall to preserve the win.
