Second-period powerplay goals by Matthew Ross and Josh Phillips staked KUA to a 2-0 lead, but Deerfield clawed back, scoring the winning goal with three minutes to play before adding an empty-netter to double up the Wildcats 4-2 on Wednesday. Up 2-1 after two, KUA surrendered the tying goal with ten minutes to play and failed to convert with the man advantage a few minutes later, leaving the door open for Deerfield to score a powerplay goal of its own for the win. KUA held the advantage in shots at 34-24, but could not get the equalizer past the Deerfield goalie.
