The Kimball Union Wildcats played sound defense and rode the arm of Mike Gerardi to a 36-12 win over Holderness School
Michael Gerardi threw 3 touchdowns, passed for 2 two point conversions and ran in another, as the KUA Wildcats (3-0) defeated the Holderness Bulls (1-2) 36-12.
Akeem Labitue began the scoring with a 45 yard interception return for a touchdown. Gerardi connected with Omari Mobley for a 60 yard touchdown score and again for the two point conversion to make the score 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Gerardi hooked up with Kellan Grenier on a 55 yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 20-0 midway into the 2nd quarter. Holderness came storming back before the half to cut the deficit to 20-6 at halftime.
Holderness struck again in the third quarter on a long pass play, making it 20-12 after 3 quarters.
A torrential downpour woke up the Cats, as Gerardi connected with Mobley again for a 8 yard score 2 minutes into the final frame. Gerardi took the two point conversion into the endzone, extending the Cats lead to 28-12. KUA's defense then stopped a stubborn Holderness offense on downs and Kevin Vieira broke off a 35 yard touchdown run. Gerardi ended the scoring connecting with Labitue for the two point play. Colby Husby ended nay hope of a Holderness comeback with an interception to seal the win for the Cats, 36-12.
The Wildcats get back into action against next Saturday against New Hampton School (3-0) at 4:15 on Pope Field.
