Wildcats Beat the Wildcats: 15-7

The Kimball Union Wildcats took on the Vermont Academy Wildcats this evening at VA.  Senior Maura Doyle (Merrimac, MA) scored the first goal of the game just 20 seconds in the first half and the KU Wildcats begin working to get and keep control of the ball.  Junior Morgan Walsh (Duxbury, MA) scored four minutes later followed by a nice goal by Doyle off a feed from Walsh.   KUA took care of the ball for the majority of the half but VA fought back, scoring two goals late in the period to end the half at 5-2.    Although VA snuck a quick goal in at the beginning of the second half, KU went after every ball and took advantage of knocked balls and ground balls to earn back possession.  Junior Zoe Reed (Melvin Village, NH) and Storm Sideleau (Contoocook, NH) each earned an interception and sophomore Joanna Schafer (Meriden, NH) intercepted two passes to gain possession for KUA.   The team worked cohesively all over the field, looking for each other on passes as well as feeding open players in the arc. Walsh earned 6 goals and 4 assists and Doyle finished the game with 4 goals.  Sideleau scored a goal and picked up an assist while junior Ellie Harrigan (Park City, UT) and sophomore Emma Rohrer (York, ME) scored a goal each.  Senior captain Gretchen Schissel (Newport, NH) scored her first and second varsity goal.  Christine Bouchat-Bonin earned 10 saves for Kimball Union.
