KUA defeats Proctor in Home opener thriller, 13-12

The Kimball Union Academy Boys’ varsity lacrosse team defeated Proctor Academy in their home opener, 13-12. KUA built a 9-2 lead at the half and withstood a Proctor comeback late in the 4th quarter to win their home opener. Nine players figured in KUA’s 13 goals. Senior captain Eric Megnia and sophomore Will Harrigan led all scorers with three goals, while fellow attackman Mike Lombardi contributed a goal and three assists. Dylan Van Leuwen-Hall scored two goals while Sam Erb and Kenny Speak each had a goal and an assists. Gavin Black and Owen Manley each scored a goal apiece. Cam Beecy added an assist on the game winning goal by Manley. Beecy was key on faceoffs, winning 18/27 contest. Greg Surgenor, Vasili Katsarakes, Parker Hall, and Jake Pike contained Proctor’s talented attack trio. KUA goalie Nick Parker made key saves, especially down the home stretch. He finished with 11 saves.
KUA (2-0) heads to Williston Northampton on Wednesday.
