Wildcats beat the Bobcats

On Wednesday, the Wildcats of Kimball Union Academy traveled to western Mass. to battle the Bobcats of Williston Northampton. Williston started the game with an aggressively physical style of play, a style that was rewarded with the first goal of the game. Kimball Union responded with a quick tally from Ben Finkelstein that was assisted by Roope Hirvonen and Pat Shea. The next goal was from Williston again, making the score two to one. The Kimball Union Wildcats quickly replied, however. With an assist from Brice Dolan and Jack Doherty, Jack Griffin was able to rush down the wing for a great far side rip to tie the score at two to two. Just as the first period was coming to an end, George Sennott drove home the first of two for the night for him, with assists from Pat Shea and Ben Finkelstein, to put KUA up by one. Pat Shea scored one of the best goals of the night with a terrific effort on a power play goal. Shea’s goal came from two great breakout passes, one from Hirvonen and the other from Finkelstein. KUA never seemed to look back from there. The Orange and Black went on to net two more goals. Chris Konin scored the fifth goal, a beautiful one-timer from the top of the circle that was assisted by Nick Armstrong and Thomas Samuelson. While Williston did score to make it five to three in the sixth minute, Kimball Union was nevertheless able to respond, yet again, with an empty netter from George Sennott, assisted by Finkelstein. Overall, it was a battle that pushed the Kimball Union Wildcats, both old and new, to elevate their games and win as a team.
