In Their Own Words: Ella ’26

Ella ’26 is from Billerica, Massachusetts, a member of cross-country, track, theater, and chamber ensemble. When asked for a piece of advice to share with incoming students, she says, "It is crucial to learn how to manage time. With afternoon activities, extracurriculars, friends, and schoolwork, it is extremely easy to get caught up in one and forget about the other." Ella says she loves KUA's tight-knit community.
What do you love about KUA?
I love the tight-knit community KUA has built over the years. I feel that everywhere you walk, there's always someone you know and say hi to. Everyone has their own web of connections they have constructed, and we all come together as a community.

What surprised you the most about being a student during your first year at KUA?
During my first year, I was most surprised at how much teachers here want their students to succeed. With access to office hours, seeing them around campus, and their emails, it is easy to ask questions and accommodations about anything. They always try to do their best to help their students.

What is one piece of advice you'd like to share with incoming students?
One piece of advice I'd like to share with incoming students is it is crucial to learn how to manage time. With afternoon activities, extracurriculars, friends, and schoolwork, it is extremely easy to get caught up in one and forget about the other. It's never fun to realize you have a big assignment due the next day that you hadn't started.

Where is your favorite place on campus and why?
My favorite place on campus is my dorm room. I have a cozy and welcoming single where I spend my time hanging out, doing homework, and of course, sleeping. I enjoy being able to come back after a day of classes and relax in my room before my after-school commitments. Often, I invite my friends over during our free time to hang out and have occasional parties and get-togethers.

What's your favorite meal from the dining hall?
My favorite meal from the dining hall is the empanadas. Are they premade? Maybe, but are they good? Absolutely.
