Joining the KUA team as the Mathematics Department Chair, Michael Porrazzo returns to the New England boarding school environment with which he is so familiar. Before moving to KUA, Michael served as the Mathematics Department Coordinator at Friends School of Baltimore, an independent day school in Maryland. Prior to the Friends School post, Michael taught mathematics, coached and directed the rowing program, and headed a dormitory at Middlesex School. He has also taught and coached at his alma mater, Tabor Academy, and Blue Ridge School (VA).
In “a previous life,” Michael rowed competitively but now prefers to expend his energy improving math education. In his spare time, Michael continues to enjoy “messing about in boats” and trying to keep up while running with his marathon-running wife, Julie, who teaches middle school math in Hanover. Michael and Julie have three daughters, Alexandra, Emma, and Caitlin. They reside in Rowe under the direction of their dog, Gracie.
