The KUA Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse Team participates in the competitive Lakes Region Athletic Conference. As a varsity team, our ultimate goal, is to develop our players both on and off the field. We strive to excel in the classroom first and foremost, as well as to build our players’ skills on the lacrosse field. This combination of excelling on and off the field has led our program to having a long history of alumnae playing at top tier Division I, II and III schools.
The development of our student-athletes begins with our coaches. KUA’s current head coach is Brigid “Brig” Hurley. Coach Brig has been coaching high level lacrosse for over ten years and brings a background of playing and coaching at the college level. Coach Brig played at St. Lawrence University, where she captained her senior season and earned Regional All-American honors. After graduating in 2013, she went on to coach at the University of Manchester in Manchester, England. She then completed her Master of Science in Organizational Leadership, specializing in Sports Leadership from Mercyhurst University. While at Mercyhurst, she was the Interim Head Women's Lacrosse Coach and led the team to their first PSAC Championship win in program history in 2016. Before coming to KUA, Coach Brig was the Girls' High School Program Director for Harlem Lacrosse Boston, where she oversaw academics, athletics, and the college recruitment process. She has most recently completed her Master of School Counseling degree from Boston College and is a School Counselor here on the hilltop. This background allows for her to help develop players into collegiate athletes and assist them in the recruiting process.

Erin majored in both mathematics and psychology at St. Lawrence. She also studied abroad for a semester in Kenya, pursuing her minor in African studies. While at St. Lawrence, Erin played four years of field hockey and two years of lacrosse. During the summers, she coached at White Mountain Sports camps for field hockey and Upper Valley Lacrosse Camps.
Since graduating from college, Erin has lived in Park City, UT, where she served as a ski instructor at Deer Valley Resort. Now returning to the Northeast and back to the area where she grew up, she looks forward to experiencing the New England seasons again.
The team was honored with two All League recipients: Gretchen Schissel and Morgan Walsh. Gretchen became a backbone for the team on the defensive end this season. She took charge making sure the low attack were covered and did a nice job communicating with her teammates about open players and how to better defend. Gretchen led the team in interceptions with 11! Morgan Walsh was a key player in the midfield as well as on attack this season. Morgan scored 47 goals on attack and worked hard to re-defend in the transition game. Congratulations to both Morgan and Gretchen!
For the team awards, the coaches decided that it made the most sense to recognize two leaders on the team. Although they may not have opened their mouths to voice their opinions, they demonstrated their thoughts through action. The Coaches’ Awards go to this year’s captains: Gretchen Schissel and Hailey Hart. These two seniors worked hard in every practice, always putting 100% into each sprint, skill or drill. In games, they kept their heads high and played hard to the last whistle. Congratulations Hailey and Gretchen!
